CranioSacral Therapy
CranioSacral Therapy (CST)
Craniosacral Therapy & Visceral Manipulation (VM) are two very important modalities I offer (I’ll add in VM during a CST session if it feels warranted and my client is open to it). Both of these bodywork modalities offered me a lot of relief as I went through my process of healing, especially recovering from an old whiplash injury, but also with general pains that surfaced in my shoulders, low back, or neck. Results I’ve seen with clients: relief of back pain, headaches, TMJ, anxiety, neck pain, to name a few.
“CST was pioneered and developed by osteopathic physician John E. Upledger following extensive scientific studies from 1975 to 1983 at Michigan State University, where he served as a clinical researcher and Professor of Biomechanics.
CST is a gentle, hands-on method of evaluating and enhancing the functioning of a physiological body system called the craniosacral system – comprised of the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord.
CranioSacral practitioners release restrictions in the craniosacral system, which has been shown to improve the functioning of the central nervous system, as well as many other systems of the body, such as digestive, musculoskeletal, respiratory, circulatory, and more. CST has also been shown to help with the physical components related to such somatic conditions as Post Traumatic Stress, depression and anxiety.
CST is a complementary treatment that releases tensions deep in the body to help reduce pain, relieve dysfunction, and improve whole-body health and performance. By facilitating the body’s natural and innate healing processes, CST is increasingly used as a preventive healthcare measure for its ability to bolster resistance to disease.” – Upledger Institute
There is a profound listening that takes place during CST sessions, and I feel that part of the healing taking place is because of this listening to my client’s body/spirit and allowing it to unwind or bring attention to areas in need. Of course there are specific techniques I utilize, depending on what restrictions or stagnation is felt.

Thoughts
My treatments aim for long-term pain relief and empowering and supporting you on your healing journey. But it is ultimately you and your body that will do the healing. I understand my limits and will refer you to another specialist if it appears my work is not serving you.
There are often a few layers to peel back, but if you are open and willing to put in some work, your body, mind, and soul will thank you.
